Abstract: Dearth of information to estimate poverty, wealth inequalities and financial inclusion at a sub-Caste level is a driving factor for conducting this study. Growing demand for reservation by various influential Castes across in India is still a burning issue encountering the political classes of the country. The issue become much more relevant with fast approaching of 2019 General elections. No doubt in the fact that Uttar Pradesh occupies a central place in deciding the winner of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Gigantic size of its population also often shapes the national averages of socio-economic and human development Indicators. In this study, we have sub-Caste based estimates of poverty, wealth inequalities and financial inclusion in Uttar Pradesh. We used a unique data primarily collected by the author along with his colleagues when he was at Giri Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) under the project of “Social and Educational Status of OBC and Dalit Muslims”. The survey was conducted from October 2014 to April 2015. It was administered to a state representative sample of 7,195 households located in 14 districts of Uttar Pradesh. For the first-time, this survey encompasses state level sub-caste wise quantitative analyses of various developmental outcomes.
