Abstract : There is a need to better understand how family (marital patterns, fertility patterns, complex families) interrelate with health. How do new family constellations and demographic patterns affect the health of children and adults? Are changes in e.g., timing of marriage and of childbearing affecting the health of adults and children? What are the effects of the use of other technological interventions on family and health? How does divorce and remarriage affect health outcomes? The presentation will focus on the work relating to this area in the new Centre for Fertility and Health in Oslo that focuses on health and family status. Further, its relevance for international research and collaboration are also discussed.
