Mr Vishwanath is a Civil Engineer and Urban Planner by training but environmentalist by passion. He worked with HUDCO for fourteen years on various urban development projects before he went on to dirty his hand in the
field. He has extensively worked on the issue of sustainable development especially water and sanitation. He has also been instrumental in documenting traditional water harvesting systems in India and also their revival.
He has designed several hundred rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, eco-sanitation, wastewater recycling systems. He was Ex-Secretary General International Rainwater Catchment Systems Association and at present holds various positions including Director and Trustee, Biome International; Advisor, Arghyam; Trustee, Gram Vikas and Policy Advisor for the Government of Karnataka and Bengaluru City on Rainwater Harvesting,
Waste Water and Faecal sludge management. He also enjoys teaching and immersive research and at present is an Adjunct Professor at the Asim Premji University and is actively engaged in Planning and Design Schools including
CEPT University Ahmedabad.
