Workshop on
"Research Programme Development in Modern Biology"
December 15-19, 2014
Applications are invited from College/University teachers for participating in a workshop on "Research Programme Development in Modern Biology" to be held from 15th to 19th December, 2014, in the School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, under the auspices of UGC "Networking Resource Centre". The Workshop is aimed towards encouraging teachers to undertake research programmes, and providing in hand training to develop project proposals for submitting to major granting agencies in India. The participants will learn how to write a project proposal in their respective areas of interest, by one-to-one interaction with faculty members, and by presentations from the experts from the University/granting agencies.
Eligibility: Ph.D.in any area Life Sciences with teaching/research experience not exceeding 10 years for college teachers and 5 years for University teachers. Preference will be given to the persons teaching in remote and under-privileged regions of the Country. The teachers only from the Universities and Colleges which are eligible to receive financial assistance from UGC can apply for this program.
Travel/Accommodation: AC II tier train fare will be reimbursed to the participants on production of copy of train ticket. Double occupancy rooms will be provided to the candidates free of cost. However, the participants will have to arrange their food which is available in canteens in the campus.
Application procedure: Application should be made in the format given and sent through proper channel. Soft copy of the application (text file) and scanned signed (by HOD) copy should be mailed to dean_sls@mail.jnu.jnu.ac.in and hard copy of the application duly forwarded by competent authority, must reach to Dean, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110 067, not later than 17th November 2014 5.00 P.M.

Applications were invited from College/University teachers for participating in a Workshop on “Development of Concepts in Modern Biology”. The Workshop was aimed towards enhancing knowledge in selected areas of Modern Biology and to help the participants in developing independent research aptitudes. The workshop would include an in-depth review of current status of various facets of modern biology and “interaction based training” on developing research projects including writing grant applications. The workshop held from December 13-16th, 2010 at the School of Life Sciences under the auspicious of “UGC Networking Resource Centre”.

The Workshop was aimed towards enhancing knowledge of Modern Biology and to help the participants in developing independent Research Programmes. The Workshop included an in-depth review of current status of various facets of Modern Biology and hands-on training on developing research projects including generating funding for research. The Workshop held from December 14-16, 2009 under the auspices of the UGC Resource Network Programme.
Twenty participants were selected with a due consideration for regional representation. Teachers currently working in under privileged states/regions were encouraged to apply.
