Brief Profile of the Speaker: Dr Doug Hill is an Associate Professor of Development Studies in the School of Geography, University of Otago, New Zealand, where he also coordinates the Master of International Development and Planning degree. During his time at Otago, he has held visiting positions at universities and think tanks in the Japan, UK, the Netherlands, Germany and India. He has also undertaken work for a range of international institutions including the United Nations and the World Bank. Doug has been researching issues associated with environmental governance in South Asia for the past 20 years.
