Decolonising Higher Education: Multilingual Pedagogy and Epistemic Justice
Venue: Committee Room, SSS I, Jawaharlal Nehru University
Date: 21 February 2023
Convener: Professor Minati Panda, Jawaharlal Nehru University
The seminar titled, “Decolonising Higher Education: Multilingual Pedagogy and Epistemic Justice” aims at creating dialogue between eminent scholars, institutions and pedagogic systems on coloniality of languages in India and the transformative role multilingual pedagogy can play in the academic life of students from the marginalized communities. It encourages dialogue on how higher education could be accessed better if mediational barriers are minimized linguistically, cognitively and intersubjectively. Speakers from five different universities – JNU, AUD, Askoka, Azim Premji and Delhi University – are presenting their hitherto used pedagogic practices and are discussing what kind of language-in-education policy the higher education institutes need for transforming the pedagogic space into a more inclusive one.
