Balancing food security with animal and human health in India: Can a One Health framework meet the challenge?
organised by JNU and Chatham House, UK.
This event will be broadcast via Zoom on 17 January 2023 from 15:00 to 16:00 hours (IST), please block your calendar.
About the webinar:
This second webinar in India’s Roadmap II activities will help explore the need for a One Health framework to ensure a sustainable and safe poultry supply chain for food security in India. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is closely linked with animal welfare, the safety of poultry, biohazards and usage of growth promoters etc. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 focuses on zero hunger and stipulates that animals harmed by AMR affect farmers’ livelihoods and negatively impact food security. Similarly, Goal 3 underlines the threat of bloodstream infection due to antimicrobial-resistant organisms and the increased cost of treatment due to AMR.
Speakers:
Dr. Sandeep Ghatak, Principal Scientist ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region; Umiam, Meghalaya
Dr. Vikas Aggarwal, South Asia Regional Lead, Fleming Fund Grants Programme, Mott MacDonald, NOIDA
Moderator:
