Abstract: As an integral part of curricula in Europe, Global Learning has changed significantly in the past decade. The study and understanding of issues relevant to global political, economic and climate change have become key elements to global interdependence. Through primary, secondary and tertiary education there has been an increasing awareness of themes such as conflict, climate and health (including pandemics) and this has led to a revised approach to global engagement and educational internationalization. Implicit to this is our appreciation of human rights as another cross-cutting theme. This presentation will look at the connections between Global Learning and Human Rights Education and how the European education system has been working to integrate the two pedagogies to introduce a more holistic approach to development education while constructing a better way of learning about international development.
