Bio: Aifric Mac Aodha was born in 1979. She is an Irish-language poet and her first Irish-language poetry collection, Gabháil Syrinx, was published in 2010. She has taught in St Petersburg, New York and Canada and has lectured in old and modern Irish at UCD. She lives in Dublin where she now works for the Irish-language publisher, An Gúm.
Aifric Mac Aodha was the winner of the Oireachtas Prize for Poetry (2017). She has had work in various magazines and journals, including POETRY Young Irish Poets. She has been translated to many languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Czech. Her work has earned her a number of bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland. Foreign News (2017) is Aifric Mac Aodha’s first collection with The Gallery Press. With poems in Irish and English she finds a perfect counterpart in David Wheatley. In 2018, she and Peter Fallon co-edited Calling Cards, a bilingual anthology of younger Irish-language poets.
