Abstract: In 1969 D.V. Anosov and A. Katok came up with a recipe, now known as the 'approximation by conjugation' method or the 'Anosov-Katok' method to construct examples of smooth transformations in ergodic theory. In this talk, I will describe this method and discuss some applications. In particular, I will focus on some applications in the real-analytic set-up. Time permitting, I will mention some open problems in the area and some general open problems than can potentially be targeted using this method.
