Drawing upon a wide range of art production techniques, this course will provide a conceptual outline for the exploration and analysis of various methods and materials of visual art practice. The course takes a cross-cultural approach looking at a wide range of works from different cultural spheres. Broadly divided into the categories of painting and drawing, sculpture, printmaking and new media practices, the course will traverse back and forth in time without a specific chronological order. It is hoped that an acquaintance with the processes of art production provided by this course will help students develop a critical faculty, enabling them to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
