Privatisation and Commercialisation of Medical Education in India: Issues and Challenges
Dr K. Muralidar
Director, Bethany Medical Centre, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Abstract: Dr Muralidar, a graduate from JIPMER, serving among a poor tribal community for last 27 years shares his experiences working among the tribals and at the same time highlights the problems facing medical education and practice in our country from the point of view of a heath care personnel. The obvious flaws in a system which can produce brilliant brains who are welcome in almost all of the developed countries of the world to provide a high quality health care but leave our own country's poor people's health to a desperately neglected status is a problem which every good thinking Indian must be concerned with. What should be the contribution of the future generation in providing an answer to the above dilemma?
