Abstract: Abstract: The fundamental aspects relating to intramolecular valence and spin exchange processes in metal complexes have been the primary focus of the present deliberation. Recent developments have facilitated in extending the scope of the exchange processes beyond the conventional understanding by using sophisticated ligands and by creating more variegated coordination patterns. The emergence of fascinating coordination chemistry with redox active (non-innocent) ligands has raised the built in complication in differentiating radical based isovalent or mixed valent complexes with mixed-valent intermediates. The experimental and theoretical methodologies in distinguishing the feasible options will be the key points to address.
