Abstract : One of the most striking discoveries of recent times is that of gravitational waves — the elusive ripples in the spacetime predicted by Albert Einstein a century ago. These observations mark the beginning of a new astronomy that is unique in several senses. This lecture will summarize the current status of gravitational wave observations and future prospects.
