Jawaharlal Nehru University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education" with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems: Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting across Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.
Applications were invited for the following purely temporary posts at various levels in the various Group projects for Research and Technical positions. The project is upto March 2017, but the appointments shall be initially for a period of one year, renewable every year depending on the performance of project staff:
- Project Sub-Title: “Structure, function, and dynamics of biomolecules and Molecular engineering"
Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - 01 Post
Essential qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry (major in Physical Chemistry) or in Physics with two years of (proven) research experience.
Desired Experience: The project requirement is in the fields of single molecule and ultrafast spectroscopy. Preference will be given to candidates having research experience in single molecular fluorescence and/or time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.

Fellowship: Rs. 14000+30% HRA p.m.
- Project Sub-Title: Identifying targets for therapeutics in neurodegenerative disorders.
Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - 01 Post
Essential qualifications: The candidate should possess M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Zoology/Botany/Allied Biological subjects.
Desired Experience: At least two years experience in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture techniques. Preference to be given to candidates having experience in studying oxidative stress biology.

Fellowship: Rs. 14000+30% HRA p.m.
- Project Sub-Title: Understanding Cell-cycle regulation
Senior Research Fellow (01 Post)
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Life sciences or related fields with minimum two years research experience in the related research field. Candidates should have practical experience in animal cell culture, routine molecular biology and cell biology techniques.
Desirable qualifications: Working knowledge of protein purification/ confocal microscopy and Flow Cytometry is desirable.

- Technical Assistant (01)
Qualification: M. Sc./B.Tech. in any of the Science/Technology subjects with an experience to handle modern equipment used in Bioscience/Biotechnology laboratory.
In addition, the candidate should be capable of record keeping, scientific report preparation, taking care of office work and working in team with Biologists and Physical Scientists. Experience in the field will be preferred.
Salary: Rs. 18, 000/-pm consolidated.
