The Rain Boy’ is a collection of sixty Tuḷu folktales, presented to the English readers, selected and translated by B. Surendra Rao and K. Chinnappa Gowda, published by Kannada Language Chair. These tales gives a glimpse of the folk sensibilities of the Tuḷu people of Karnataka State, India and illustrate the heterogeneity of their society. The tales were narrated by various people in different time and space. However, enough care has taken for including tales from actual narrators in real context. They have been chosen from different regions of Tuḷunādu and the people from whom the stories were tapped by the fieldworkers belonged to different castes, age groups and of both sexes.
