JNU has established a Chair Professor position in the University in Peace and Disarmament studies in the memory of Late Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi entitled "Rajiv Gandhi Chair" in the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament, School of International Studies with the support of the UGC/MHRD, Govt. of India. The thrust area of academic responsibilities of the Chair will be teaching and research in fields of Peace and Disarmament.
JNU invites applications for the post of Chair Professor in "Rajiv Gandhi Chair", as it "seeks to appoint an internationally acknowledged expert in Disarmament issues or issues related to Peace, more generally, who has a distinguished record as an academic or practitioner in the field, as the Rajiv Gandhi Chair Professor in Disarmament & Peace Studies. Applications from distinguished scholars and practitioners, who have worked in areas of Nuclear Disarmament, Arms Control, Non-Violence, Gandhian approaches to Peace (including but not limited to concepts such Ahimsa and Satyagraha) and other Indian traditions of peace, are invited. The Chair/Professor is expected to have a demonstrated track record of expertise in the area through publications or policy engagements at the highest level."
The post of Chair-Professor shall be in the scale of pay of Rs. 144200 - 218200 Level 14 and the appointment shall be made as per the Revised E.C. guidelines for an initial period of 2 years extendable up to a maximum of 5 years.
