Directed by renowned Quebec poet and singer Richard Desjardins,‘The Invisible People’ critically revisits the forgotten history of
unequal relationships between the white settlers and the Algonquinsin Northern Québec and illustrates their constant resistance to
oppression. Winner of the Best Documentary at the Jutra Awards.

Focussing on current conflictual identities, ‘Before the Street’ tells the story of a young Atikamekh who experiences the redemptory
power of his return to healing rituals and community practices. Winner of the Best Canadian Feature Film at the Whistler Film
Festival and the Discovery Award of the Directors Guild of Canada.
6:00 PM: CE QU’IL FAUT POUR VIVRE (2008)
Set in the 1950s ‘The Necessities of Life’ vividly explores the cultural shock of an Inuit hunter brought to Quebec city to cure his tuberculosis and the touching relationship he develops with a French Canadian nurse and a young urbanised Inuit boy. Winner of the Most Popular Canadian Feature Film at the Montreal Film Festival Awards .
